What are the visa requirements for medical travel by country?

Here is a quick overview for our six most popular destinations. Rules depend on your nationality, so always confirm with the official source before booking.

Thailand

Short stays
Many passports can enter Thailand visa-free for short visits, but how long you can stay depends on your nationality, and the rules have changed several times recently. All foreign visitors must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival.
Longer treatment
For extended care, you can apply for a Non-Immigrant MT (Medical Treatment) visa through Thailand's official e-Visa portal. Your hospital can provide the supporting medical letter.

Malaysia

Short stays
Many nationalities can visit Malaysia visa-free for short stays. Others apply for an eVISA online before travelling. Most visitors must also submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three days before arrival.
Longer treatment
If your treatment plan runs past your permitted stay, your hospital can support an application to extend your visit pass with the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Singapore

Short stays
Many nationalities enter Singapore visa-free. Others need a visa from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Every visitor must submit the SG Arrival Card online within three days before arrival.
Longer treatment
If you need to stay longer for treatment, your hospital can help you request a Visit Pass extension from ICA, usually supported by a doctor's memo.

Turkey (Türkiye)

Short stays
Many nationalities are visa-exempt, and most others can apply for an e-Visa online in a few minutes. Check your passport's eligibility on the official portal before booking flights.
Longer treatment
Treatment that requires a longer stay may need a visa issued by a Turkish embassy or consulate, supported by documents from your hospital.

South Korea

Short stays
Visa-exempt travellers usually need a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation) before flying, although some nationalities are temporarily exempt. Travellers from other countries need a visa.
Longer treatment
Korea issues a dedicated medical tourism visa (C-3-3) for treatment stays of up to 90 days, and a G-1-10 visa for longer treatment. Your hospital or a registered facilitator provides the invitation.
